On 13 October 2026, the RENFORCE project partners will meet at the Sacro Monte di Belmonte, in Piedmont, Italy, for the project’s third partnership meeting and a dedicated field visit hosted by the Sacri Monti of Piedmont Public Authority.
The day will provide an opportunity for partners to exchange knowledge and experiences on the challenges posed by climate change and extreme weather events to forests and tree-lined areas, with a particular focus on forest resilience, tree stability and wildfire risk.
The programme will include presentations and discussions on the activities carried out by the Sacri Monti Management Authority to assess tree stability and ensure safety in response to new weather-related impacts, as well as on the effects of wind and severe meteorological events. Participants will also explore the measurement and use of data related to adverse weather events affecting forests and tree-lined areas, together with practical applications of tree stability assessment methods and field surveys.
In the afternoon, the programme will focus on wildfires in Piedmont and on the development of climate scenarios for mountain areas and their relevance to forest fire analysis.
The technical sessions will be complemented by a guided visit to the Sacro Monte di Belmonte, providing participants with a practical opportunity to observe the site and discuss the challenges addressed by the RENFORCE project in the field.
The day will conclude with a partnership meeting, followed by a social dinner bringing together project partners.
