What we do

Development of a joint strategy for the prevention of natural hazards
– Assess existing knowledge and best practices on forest vulnerability to wildfires and windstorms across the Mediterranean.
– Map and evaluate current prevention tools and policy frameworks.
– Synthesize findings to create a Joint Strategy for forest risk prevention and sustainable management.
Testing Solutions
– Pilot actions in forest areas to test how management practices can reduce risks from fire and wind.
– Use digital tools to model forest dynamics and assess resilience.
– Apply and validate innovative methods for assessing, monitoring, and mitigating abiotic hazards.
From knowledge to action: engagement and policy uptake
– Draft guidelines and governance models to support authorities in applying RENFORCE tools and strategy.
– Co-create a Participatory Prevention Plan (PPP) involving local communities, policymakers, and NGOs to ensure long-term impact and ownership.
